Roulette at DraftKings Casino (4.9/5)
With a 4.9 out of 5-star rating, DraftKings is my top online roulette casino recommendation available in West Virginia.
DK offers 22 different roulette variants and ten different Live Dealer roulette options. DraftKings has clearly made roulette a key area of focus for its players.

My favorite feature is their exclusive roulette variants, including some sports-themed options, such as NBA SlamDunk Roulette.
The last time I played at DraftKings, I enjoyed a few rounds of DK Lightning Roulette and ended up finishing my session up a cool $5.
DraftKings Casino (4.9/5) | Roulette Information |
Roulette Games | 22 variants including American, French, European, Space Invaders, Roulette Up, Monopoly Big Spin, and more. |
Exclusive Roulette Games | Yes, lots of exclusives, including Spooky Roulette, Pride Roulette, NBA SlamDunk Roulette, Roulette Lite, and more. |
Live Roulette | Yes, 10 titles including: Lightning Roulette, Live Dealer Casino Floor Roulette, Auto American Roulette, and more. |
Betting Limits | Table roulette has a minimum bet amount of $0.10 and a maximum of $5,000. Live dealer roulette has a minimum bet amount of $0.10 and a maximum bet amount of $10,000. |
Roulette Bonuses | You can use the welcome bonus to play roulette, and better still, there’s only a 1x wagering requirement. While there are no roulette-specific bonuses, DraftKings’ unique approach to low wagering is a big boost- and it’s much lower than any other brand on this list. |
User Experience | DraftKings has a simple but stylish user interface that translates perfectly onto mobile. You can play all of the roulette titles on your phone, and each one is easy to see clearly. They score 4.5 and 4.8 on the App Store and Google Play store, which are both well-deserved ratings. |
Roulette Winnings | DraftKings offers a super low 1x wagering on the majority of their bonuses. However, be aware of the slightly tight 7-day expiry. If you want to make quick withdrawals, then it’s never a bad idea to complete your KYC check voluntarily ahead of time. Using debit card or PayPal to request a withdrawal should keep things to under 24 hours. However, if you don’t mind a longer wait, then you can pay using bank transfer, cash at the window, checks, or DK gift cards. |
DraftKings Online Casino:

Roulette at Golden Nugget Casino (4.8/5)
With a 4.8-star rating, the Golden Nugget Casino is my second-ranked online casino in WV. The Golden Nugget Online Casino is now owned by the DraftKings corporation, so it’s no surprise to see them near the top of my rankings as well.
The DK influence might explain why this site offers 14 roulette table games, seven exclusive roulette variants, and six Live Dealer options.
I love sampling exclusive roulette games, so I was excited to try the seven different exclusive options available.
Golden Nugget Spooky Roulette
My favorite was Spooky Roulette. It was great fun, even if it’s not October, and we aren’t particularly close to Halloween.

With its quirky skeletons and spooky soundtrack, this game feels like a Slots Roulette hybrid.
Golden Nugget Casino (4.8/5) | Roulette Information |
Roulette Games | 14 table games including American, French, European, Spooky, Pride, Blazing 7’s Roulette, Monopoly Big Spin, and more. |
Exclusive Roulette Games | Yes, 7 titles including Golden Nugget American Roulette, Golden Nugget European Roulette, and several DraftKings titles. |
Live Roulette | Yes, 6 titles including Lightning Roulette, Live American Roulette, and VIP European Roulette. |
Betting Limits | Table games have a minimum bet of $0.10 and a maximum bet of $5,000.Live casino games have a minimum bet of $1 and a maximum bet of $10,000. |
Roulette Bonuses | You can use the welcome bonus to play both table live roulette games, but remember that it only counts 20% towards the wagering requirement. There are no specific roulette bonuses available at the moment. If you took the full welcome bonus amount and made the minimum $0.10 bet, you could play 10,000 rounds of roulette for free! |
User Experience | The Golden Nugget app is a great experience and allows us to play all the variants offered in their desktop catalogue. The games adapt extremely well from my desktop to my phone, and I would have to agree with the 4.6 App Store rating. The Golden Nugget Hotel in Vegas was originally built in 1946, and maybe that is why I always assume it is an “old school” casino. However, their online presence and quality apps remind me that the Golden Nugget is a golden gem of an online casino option. |
Roulette Winnings | There’s a very fair 10x wagering requirement on the welcome bonus and roulette only counts 20% towards that. The playthrough requirements are lower than BetMGM but not as low as DraftKings. If you’d like to withdraw your winnings quickly, then complete your KYC ahead of time and use a debit card or PayPal for payment processing within 24 hours. You can also make and receive payments via cash at window, cheque, bank transfer, Venmo, and more. |
Golden Nugget Casino

Roulette at BetMGM Casino (4.7/5)
The first thing I noticed as a player using the BetMGM Online Site was their focus on the overall interface and user experience. In my opinion BetMGM offers one of the best-designed interfaces in the market, which makes the whole experience feel a cut above the rest.
Searching for their roulette options was extremely easy and intuitive. Users can take advantage of the site’s layout and dedicated roulette section, or search for known titles directly.
BetMGM offers 15 different RNG titles and six different exclusive games.

My reason for rating this site just behind DraftKings and Golden Nugget is that they offer only three Live Dealer roulette games, compared to the ten different options offered at DK and the six at Golden Nugget.
BetMGM Casino (4.7/5) | Roulette Information |
Roulette Games | 15 RNG variants including: French. European, American, 25c Roulette, Double Bonus Spin, Black and Yellow Roulette, and more. |
Exclusive Roulette Games | Yes, 6 titles including: BetMGM Roulette Pro, European Roulette Classic, and more. |
Live Roulette | Yes, 3 titles including: VIP European Roulette, American Auto Roulette, and Lightning Roulette |
Betting Limits | Table games have a minimum of $0.25 and a maximum of $5,000Live dealer games have a minimum of $0.50 and a maximum of $10,000 |
Roulette Bonuses | You can use the welcome bonus to play both table and live roulette games. On a minimum bet on the exclusive 25c Roulette Game, you could play a maximum of 800 roulette games for free. While there are no other specific roulette bonuses, roulette does count towards the wagering requirements of the welcome bonus, but only at the level of 20%. |
User Experience | BetMGM has a slick user interface that’s just as seamless on desktop as it is on mobile. BetMGM gets good reviews on both the Google Play and App Store (4.3 and 4.8, respectively). TrustPilot scores it much lower, but from reading the reviews, this seems to be skewed by disgruntled players who didn’t win as much as they hoped! For me, BetMGM deserves its strong App Store and Google Play reviews. |
Roulette Winnings | If you’re lucky enough to win with your welcome bonus, then it’s subject to a 15x wagering requirement, which is fairly reasonable. Remember that roulette only counts 20% towards this figure. To receive your winnings, you have plenty of payment options including: debit cards, bank transfer, cheque, cash at cage, Venmo, PayPal, and more. For the fastest withdrawals, complete your KYC ahead of time and use Visa, Venmo, or PayPal. |

3 Roulette Types You Need To Know
A traditional American Roulette wheel consists of 38 pockets. There is a zero and double-zero pocket, as well as pockets for the numbers 1 through 36.
This double-zero roulette wheel gives the house an edge of 5.26%.

The traditional European or French Roulette wheel has 37 pockets, one less than the American version. The only difference between an American and European roulette wheel is the number of zero pockets.
In the European variant, because there is only one zero pocket as opposed to two, the house edge is significantly lower at 2.7%. (I go into even more details regarding European and American Roulette later in this article.)
Prior to the advent of online casino games, players were limited in the number of roulette variants available to them. However, roulette underwent significant changes when casino games went digital.
Today, those who play online have access to a wide range of roulette variations. Of course, traditionalists still have access to their American and European versions as well.
Below, I outline three primary types of online roulette games new players should be familiar with:
- RNG or Table Games
- Live Dealer
- Exclusive Games
RNG or Table Games
Table roulette games are powered by a random number generator (RNG). This algorithm ensures that each spin is random and fair, just like the spinning wheel in a casino ensures a fair and unpredictable outcome.
One of my current favorite RNG variants is Lightning Roulette. With Lightning Roulette, players have the same betting options as they would at a traditional European Roulette wheel.
However, this unique version randomly selects numbers that are assigned huge multipliers if they hit. These multipliers can range from 50/1 to 500/1.

Lightning Roulette provides the same thrills and laughs that a traditional roulette wheel provides, and also the added excitement of hitting a potentially huge payout.
Live Roulette Games
Live games, sometimes called live dealer or live casino roulette, have a real-life croupier and an actual roulette wheel.
You interact through a user interface on your screen and watch the live stream as it plays out.
The Live Dealer versions have some distinct features that can set them apart from a traditional RNG experience.
Face-to-Face Interaction:
With Live Dealer roulette, a real dealer spins a real wheel and engages in real-time conversation with the players.
This is very different from logging in and spending time playing an RNG variant by yourself.
Real Time Engagement
The technology behind live roulette involves streaming a real-time view of an actual spinning wheel. This allows players to watch and engage as they would at a brick-and-mortar casino.
The pace of play tends to be slightly slower with live dealer roulette, as players watch the ball spin inside the wheel until it comes to rest at the end of each spin.
With RNG roulette, the generator can select a random number far quicker than it takes an actual roulette ball to come to a rest inside the spinning wheel.
Social Component:
The primary reason I enjoy Live Dealer roulette is that it allows me to turn a fun game into a very enjoyable and social evening instead.
I prefer live variants that allow me to interact with the dealer and my fellow players in real-time.
My most memorable experiences are when I found other players who were fun to chat with and helped create a very social and enjoyable night of gaming.
Exclusive Roulette Games
Some sites have games that are exclusive to them, meaning you can’t play them anywhere else.
These games can be both table or live roulette.
DraftKings Casino has a particularly large selection of roulette games that fuse sport and roulette together, with Detroit Lions roulette being a personal favorite of mine right now.
What Does Playthrough Mean With My Roulette Bonus?
Playthrough or playthrough requirements refer to the number of times a bettor must wager their bonus dollars before those bonus dollars become eligible to be withdrawn.
Securing a generous welcome bonus can significantly boost your bankroll, but it’s essential to thoroughly understand the bonus terms before accepting them.
Sifting through a site’s terms and conditions may not seem like an enjoyable task, but understanding the requirements that must be met before accessing your bonus funds is important.
Sometimes, the terms and conditions attached to bonus funds require a player to wager more than they are comfortable with or take them outside of their personal betting limits.
In these situations, players need to understand the specific playthrough requirements for a bonus. If these conditions require you to wager outside of your comfort zone, this is an easy example of a bonus that isn’t right for you.
Example Welcome Bonus Terms
Let’s examine a real welcome bonus to help you remember which terms are super important to understand before signing up.
We’ll use BetMGM’s 100% Deposit Match up to $1,000 Bonus. Below are the most important terms relating to this bonus.
- Wagering Requirement: How many times you need to wager the bonus amount before withdrawing your winnings. In this bonus, it’s 15x.
- Game Eligibility/Weightings: Some games can’t be played when you have an active bonus. Other games sometimes don’t contribute 100% to the wagering requirement. In this example, roulette counts only 20%.
- Expiry: When you need to complete the wagering requirement by. For this bonus, it’s 14 days.
- Qualifying Deposit: The minimum amount you need to deposit to unlock the bonus here it’s $10.
With all of this in mind, if you took the full $1,000 bonus and spent it all on roulette, you’d need to wager (1000 x 15) x 5 = $75,000 in 14 days.
If roulette is your only game of choice, then wagering $75,000 over 14 days is a ridiculous total for most of us, and signing up for the full $1,000 deposit match does not make sense.
However, a $10 playthrough requirement requires a much more realistic betting total.
Players would have to average just over $50 a day in roulette bets over the course of a 2-week period.
It’s always worth considering your budget carefully when contemplating a welcome bonus that works best for you.
Roulette 101: Essential Tips for Beginners
Roulette is an easy game to understand, and you can practice here on Roulette Simulator. The goal is to correctly guess where the ball will land.
But, if you don’t have a great understanding of all your betting options, and the odds that they payout, it can feel more complicated than it really is.
Bets are divided into two categories: outside and inside.
Outside bets have smaller payouts but better odds (they’re more likely to happen).
Inside bets have larger payouts but smaller odds. Let’s take a look at the different types of bets, what they mean exactly, and what payout you can typically expect for each one.
Outside Bets
- Red/Black: Bet on the ball landing on either a red or black number. Payout: 1:1.
- Odd/Even: Wager on whether the number will be odd or even. Payout: 1:1.
- High/Low: Predict if the number will be between 1–18 (Low) or 19–36 (High). Payout: 1:1.
- Dozens: Bet on one of three 12-number groups (1–12, 13–24, 25–36). Payout: 2:1.
- Columns: Choose one of the three vertical columns on the table. Payout: 2:1.
Inside Bets
- Straight-Up: Bet on a single number. Payout: 35:1.
- Split: Wager on two adjacent numbers. Payout: 17:1.
- Street: Bet on a row of three numbers. Payout: 11:1.
- Corner: Place your chip on the intersection of four numbers. Payout: 8:1.
- Line: Bet on two adjacent rows (six numbers). Payout: 5:1
Getting Started: Most Popular Roulette Variants to Play
I want to detail just the top three variants – European, American, and French – before we get into unique games.
I’ll walk you through how each one works and the rules that distinguish it from the others, including the RTP (return to player rate) which indicates the house edge.
European Roulette
European Roulette is probably the most commonly played version.
It has 37 pockets: numbers 1–36 and a single zero. The single zero gives it a slightly higher RTP (around 97.3%) compared to its American counterpart.
European Roulette’s straightforward rules and lower house edge make it the most popular option and very easy to find.
American Roulette
American Roulette adds an extra pocket, a double zero (00), bringing the total number of slots on the wheel to 38.
This extra zero square increases the house edge, lowering the RTP to approximately 94.7%.
That is a significant difference over time compared to European.
For me, American Roulette is the one to avoid. It has a much higher house edge for very little extra excitement.
However, most novice players don’t understand the differences between the variants and are unaware that they are at a disadvantage when playing American Roulette.
French Roulette
On looks alone, French Roulette looks the same as European Roulette. The wheel is identical, but there are a couple of special rules for even-money bets that we need to take a look at:
- La Partage: if the ball lands on zero then you get half of your bet back.
- En Prison: if the ball lands on zero then your wager gets moved onto the next spin.
These rules boost the RTP to an impressive 98.65%. If you’re a budget-conscious player, then the slight extra complication of these rules is well worth the boost in value.
Additional Roulette Games I Love to Play
While the options we just talked through above are the ones you’ll find at just about every casino, there are a whole host of other unique options.
Below, I’ll walk you through some of my personal favorites.
- Lightning Roulette Xxxtreme: Lightning Roulette Xxxtreme sets five numbers at random on the wheel that will multiply your wins if you land on them. These multipliers rise to 2,000x your stake.
- Mini Roulette: Playtech invented Mini Roulette. It’s simply a wheel with 13 slots instead of 37 or 38. It’s faster-paced and great fun!
- Speed Roulette: Is roulette not quick enough for you? Speed roulette gives you just a few seconds to make your next bet. If you like to get maximum rounds in quickly then this is the best choice.
- Multi Wheel Roulette: Playtech is the studio behind Multi Wheel Roulette, where you play on anywhere from two to eight wheels at once. If you’re a fan of frenetic action, then this one is a must-try.
- Double Ball Roulette: There are two versions of double ball roulette. One lets you win if either of your balls lands in the correct slot, and one lets you win only if both balls land in the right slots. The former has smaller payouts. The latter has larger ones.
Avoid the Fallacy: Misconceptions About Online Roulette
Roulette is a very popular game, but as such, many myths surround it.
Below are some of the most common misconceptions about roulette. Both novice and experienced players often hold these misconceptions.

Play Responsibly
Playing responsibly is key—there’s no strategy or substitute for it. If you start chasing losses or notice the fun fading, take a moment to step back and reset.

You Can Influence Roulette Outcomes
There are lots of roulette strategies that are interesting to learn and can help you to understand your bankroll better. However, none of them actually change the house edge of the game that you’re playing.

You Can Change the House Edge
The only way to change the house edge in roulette is to choose which variant you’d like to play.
French and European roulette have a lower house edge than American roulette, so opt for these two varieties if you’d like the best odds of winning.

Previous Spins Influence Future Ones
Imagine the wheel lands on red five times in a row. You’d be tempted to bet on black, right?
It might be hard to believe, but the outcomes of the previous spins have no influence on what will happen with future ones.
The most important advice is to make a budget and stick to it. If you start chasing losses, or if playing roulette stops being fun, then it’s a good time to take a pause.

Top 4 West Virginia Casinos for Land-Based Roulette
While West Virginia offers many brilliant online options, it also has several land-based casinos worth playing at as well.
I enjoy switching things up with a trip to a casino, especially if I can talk some friends into going with me.

The Casino Club at the Greenbrier
The Casino Club projects a luxurious but quirky feel. Its dark green velvet chairs and tiger-print flocked wallpaper exude personality.
The Greenbrier has a couple of different roulette variants and offers plenty of tables. If you want to really treat yourself, you can even hire a private roulette table for the night.

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races
Hollywood Casino blend old-world charm with modern gaming tables.
There are some classic hardwood roulette wheels, as well as a super fun Rapid Fusion Roulette table.
This game is electronic. It was designed with all the bells and whistles, making it a fun change from the usual variants we are all familiar with.
If you’re the sports betting type, there’s also a racetrack here that provides great pre-casino entertainment.

Mardi Gras Casino
The Mardi Gras casino is just a short drive from Charleston and is home to a great horse and dog racing track.
However, I come here for the roulette! There are plenty of tables here with a wide variety of limits and really friendly croupiers.
The gaming room is kind of retro with its red leatherette chairs and loud carpets, but that’s all part of the charm of the Mardi Gras.

Mountaineer Casino
In the hills of Wheeling, Mountaineer Casino offers a classic gaming experience.
Their huge gaming floor is home to a whole lot of slot machines, but you’ll find a handful of roulette tables, too.
If you’re looking to escape from it all with some nature by day and play the tables by night, then Mountaineer Casino is probably your best option in the state.
